In summer evenings have you seen red sky during a sunset, why is the sky red then, well i don't really no for sure but maybe you guys can take my thoughts and ideas and maybe put some of them together and think of an idea to with my'n. so here they are: well this one isn't got to do with RED sky but BLUE so why do we see blue sky it is because of the refraction of water or water droplets and because it might be WHITE LIGHT, now white light is just light that goes to our retna which is at the back of your eyes it enables you to see in colour so from way high in the sky, colours may seem to appear different and the light obviously is up higher then the sky, the sky is actually WHITE, white light and water drolets (rain): after it rains in summer there is usually a rainbow with 5 colours that explains it all white light and refraction from rain. moving on so maybe in a sunset the light is DIM and you see less of the sun so i think the brighter the light the sky is blue the dimmer is red.

Skies are red at sunset and sunrise for the same reason they are blue during the day - Rayleigh scattering. This has been covered at great depth in the thousand plus questions on the same subject but I'll give you a quick explanation.

The molecules of gas in the atmosphere scatter the white light from the sun. The shorter wavelengths - the blue end of the spectrum - get scattered more than the longer wavelengths so we see the sky as blue. As the Sun sinks lower in the sky the Sun's light passes through a greater and greater depth of the atmosphere. The blue end of the spectrum is scattered away leaving the red end. If you watch carefully at sunset, the sky will go from blue to yellow to orange to red as the shorter wavelengths are removed leaving only the red end of the spectrum.

In Europe a red sky is a sign of good weather because it means the wind is coming off the equatorial regions, where it has picked up sand particles while passing over the desert regions of North Africa. So it mans that a weather front from that region is on it's way, usually a good thing, unless it collides with a cold front from the North, and then you get rain. A bit of a quick explanation but hope it helps.

The color red is generally accepted to be due to dust in the stratosphere. You're on the right track by looking at light refraction.
Red skies often portend severe weather, as in the old sailor's ditty "Red sky at morning, sailor take warning!" The can, oddly, also tell of fair weather's approach: "Red sky at night, sailor's delight!" Your challenge is to figure out why.

I think its crap in the atmospheree. You see it red because of the angle of the sun at the horizon and the fact that your seeing it through much more atmospher rather that from straight above.
There is a famous artist that drew paintings of red Sky's, and they were red because there had been a lot of volcanic activity in the years he did his paintings, hence the red Sky's.
