hey..

last night after work.. i went out to my car and noticed my drivers side mirror was broken... it looked like someone hit it with their door and just bashed the thing off my car...

the wires are still intact, and theres a pole thing still intact that's meant to hold the frame of the side mirror in place and straight....

I am planning on going to a parts store later today and ordering a replacement mirror.. but i am wondering how hard it is, or if its even possible to replace it myself.

Ive done a lot of interior work on my car and im not car-retarded, but ive never done body work before..

is it hard.. and what are the steps i have to take to do it properly and cleanly?

to clearify..

theres 3 parts of the mirror

1. the mirror

2. the outer frame.. the part you see when looking at it.. the plastic outer thing..

3. a plastic thing that goes inside the frame of the side mirror.. it protects the wires that connect to the mirror to power it... it also keeps the outer frame level.

the mirror is gone..
the outer frame is dangling off the side of my car...
and the wires/frame support are still intact, its the only thing holding my frame on my car..

go to the dealer parts and get all the components
to disassemble u need to find those screws sometimes hidden.
pop out any covers with a fine screwdriver
don't "force" anything that feels like it's going to snap
else back to the dealer for more parts.

Typically with a mirror, the hardest part is figuring out what holds it on. some vehicles seemingly have hidden bolts holding them on, but since yours is torn off, you should be able to see exactly how its held on. they usually bolt from the inside with three or so small bolts. if it is a power mirror, there should also be a quick release plug. the only way that it could get difficult is if the harness plugs in somewhere else, like under the dash or further into the door, and you have to run a wire to that point. good luck.

1st off, did they break just the mirror or did they break the whole assembly?

Just mirror? Easy, the mirror glass just "pops" in and you are done.

Assembly? Not as easy but still not rocket science. Take off door panel(depending on make/model) or cover at mirror area. Unscrew three screws, unplug wires and done. Install in reverse order.

Good luck and hope this helps.

attempt an automobile recycler. Did the completed reflect snap off in a unmarried piece? if so you may positioned higher bolts into the reflect. you purely decide on to make higher the holes contained in the door. If that is a 2012 form the broking service should be your in hardship-free words decision. If the reflect is painted to compare the body colour it will be expensive!
