No. Only the high end series are out right now, there are no middle end or low end DirectX 10 cards. nvidia is preparing to release a cheaper 320MB version of the 8800GTS which will be priced right around $275 to $300. They are also working on the 8600 series which are set to launch at some point in March at a prices of $120 to $230 and the 8300 series which will be priced at $80 or less.

DirectX 10 isn't required for Vista, you only really need a DirectX 10 card if you are going to play games that will take advantage of it, right now the only one I know of that will is Crysis (due out later this year).

They will be no more expensive then cards that only support Directx 9.... You will have a range of cards to buy from (low end for home user, high end for gamers) and the better the card, the more money you will need to spend....

AMD or ATI has the drivers certified by Microsoft now... NVidia should have them soon... They are in Beta with a couple problems, but drivers using Directx 10 use a whole new coding method due to security....

Depends on how you define "really expensive." I anticipate they should be in the $200 range.
