I think that the logical steps would be:
1) Stabilize Mexico's economy by putting in controls that are the same as in the US/Canada
2) Agree to a common currency and agree to freedom of movement
3) Agree to 'open borders' as in an EU style approach. So not per sae a Republic but more of a common entity with distinct countries and cultures.
I definitely think that it could work and work successfully.

Canada would never agree to such a preposterous idea.
For one culturally Canada and the USA are different. Canada is far to attached to their socialized heath care, clean air initiatives, socially liberal ideas. Canada isn't overly attached to God or the pursuit of Godly things, or at a minimum it is left completely out of political life. Canada also boast a different governmental structure and is still a member of the Common Wealth.
IN 100 years America will have probably alienated and blamed Mexico to a point that they will want nothing to do with a north American union.

No. Mexico is too corrupt, too socialist, too uneducated - they would be a serious drain on any economy.
Canada is too socialist, too government dependent, and has too many Frogs, which would also be a drain on the economy.
Neither Mexico or Canada has anything to bring to the table, but much they would take from our pockets.
So, no, I do not see this happening in the least - it makes no sense for the US.

No.
I think the world is about to unite in 100 or 200 years, not only the northen part of the continent.
I guess, it is 168 years from now. The year 2175.
Ah-ha! If EXACTLY 168 years latter, the world will be united, I am a wise fortune-teller, rite? :-j

We should learn a lesson from EU. Loose confederation may be the possible among countries of different regions. I feel that wars will be history after 100 year. You may see an Arab as Prime Minister of Israel. There is strong urge for peace and impact of nationalism is vanishing. Our young generation want peace and prosperity.

I certainly hope not. I know the liberals are pushing for this because it's "just not fair" that we have so much, but we have earned what we have and adding Canada and Mexico to the mix will only bring us down. It will not help them rise to our level.
Do you think it would be a good idea to merge every family in your neighborhood? You'd all share money, food, homes, yards, toys, tools, cars, etc. Does that seem like a good idea, or shouldn't you each run your own home?

No. There's no reason for it to happen. They are separate countries with separate interests. Residing on the same continent means nothing. Do you see all of Europe united as a repulic in the next hundred years?

Not a republic, but maybe a union. Similar to the E.U. It would just create blurry borders. The republicans are actually pushing from this though with the new laws for passport use going to these countries.

Yes, and it is already headed that way, especially with the creation of the North American Union.
