I'm baffled that politicians, media pundits, etc are continuously saying things like 'If we do so and so we're sending the wrong message to our enemies...'
Are we so easily influenced by what our enemies think of us? Is it even possible we will ever win over Osama Bin Laden? Does anyone else think this is rediculous? We should not be basing policy on what people who hate us MIGHT think.
Also saying things like that is rediculous, since the enemies are hearing that as well. Imagine if your father said to you 'son, you need to so and so...' and your parents went into a different room where you could still hear them and your mom said, 'You're sending him the wrong message, we should tell him this instead...'
Military use and political action should be OBJECTIVE based, not done out of fear what our enemies might 'think' about us.
