"Moors" is from the Spanish name "Moriscos". This is an overall name for the Arabs and Berbers from North Africa who conquered Spain in the early 8th Century. They were racially mixed. Some were white, some were dark. They brought Islam to Spain. They were not totally defeated until 1492 when the Granada, the last Moorish kingdom fell to the Christians.

Black Muslims from North Africa. They took over much of Spain, driving the inhabitants to the north starting around the 700s. Ferdinand and Isabella united their kingdoms and forces to drive them out around 1492, (about the time of Columbus).

They did contribute much to the Spanish culture, with their interest in learning, fruit cultivation, writing, arts, architecture, sciences, and music.
