As the two answers so far received have rightly told you, there is secularism in the statute and the average citizens are also secular but the vested interests - among the religious and political circles - are vitiating the religious harmony by dividing the people for selfish benefits...

Historically, the muslim invaders and christian rulers did exploit us, but we donot nurture any ill will toward the British or the muslim countries now... Secularism is in our blood... Our neighbours, class mates and colleagues in office all belong to diverse communities and shower love and care on us... We do not have racist violence as in some foreign countries - consider the muslims of Iraq divided among themselves and unleashing violence on their own fraternity... But we do not quarrel locally on that basis... the local religious violence are always "brought from outside" which clearly shows that they are the handiwork of some vested interests and not of the average citizens...

Then where do you search for evidence? You want evidence for what is on your own palm?
