Pan's Labyrinth just came out.
Bridge to Terabithia comes out soon.

Others: Legend, Clash of the Titans, Willow, The Hobbit, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, and any of the other old clay creature stop animation movies by Ray Harryhausen.

If you want to branch out into Sword & Sorcery type movies, I suggest starting the Conan movies (Conan the Barbarian, Conan the Destroyer, and the pseudo-Conan movie Red Sonya). They aren't the same kind of creature-flicks but they usually have some interesting fantasy characters.

Yep, I know what you mean. I like movies that introduce or at least show a variety of fantasy creatures.

The old stop-motion animation movies like Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger, Jason and the Argonauts, Clash of the Titans, the orignial Thief of Baghdad (the only good one with Sabu as the Thief and NOT that horrible Disneyfied version) and so on had A LOT of really good creature effects for its time.
