I say absolutely! I'm an avid fan of iPod. I've had two iPods so far - the older iPod w/o video and the 60gb video iPod - love them both! Depending on your requirements, I recommend getting an iPod with a screen (i.e., not the shuffle) so you can control what you're listening to.

I've owned a variety of other mp3 players in the past such as: Dell DJ, 2 different samsung mp3 players and a Sony mp3 player. None of these compared with iPod for the following reasons:

- iPod's interface is superior... the round click wheel is just so easy to use.

- iPod can play music, video and photo slideshows. You can put together a photo slideshow and add music, then display it on any TV/Monitor with A/V inputs in seconds.

- iPod has soooo much support through iTunes. For purchase, iTunes has the most amount of songs, movies, TV shows and audiobooks. For FREE, iTunes has a rediculous amount of podcasts available (sure many of these are in mp3 format, so you can download them onto another mp3 player, but iTunes manages/updates podcasts so easily and effortlessly). Video podcasts are also available.

- iPod has amazing support from other manufacturers for accessory products. You can get just about any accessory that you can imagine for iPod. I have a direct connection for my iPod in my car, I have an iPod clock radio in my bedroom, and I have an iPod stereo to listen to tunes in my livingroom.

I never go anywhere without my iPod. If it's listening to tunes while working out, sharing photos in my library with friends, catching up on a book while walking to work, or listening to the latest news on the train, I find iPod to be indispensible. I think you'll be hard-pressed to find a better portable media player. I don't even think that Zune (the only player that comes close to iPod) is comparable given all these iPod benefits. I recommend that you spend the extra money to get an iPod - you won't be disappointed.

If you're still not convinced, I recommend that you download the latest version of iTunes for free and check out all the amazing available content. There are also free podcasts for just about anything that I can think of that you can listen to on your computer via iTunes.

depend on which type r u buying. the ipod vid 80gb is the best. oh yeah u can download the songs from a p2p program and add it to ur song library. but u can only transfer ur songs through iTunes 7. but, ipod doesn't have a built in radio tuner. if u r a frequent radio listener, than u need to spend extra money on ur ipod to buy the accesories. if u're buying an ipod nano or shuffle, i recommend u buy a creative products(zen, muvo etc.) or a sony walkman mp3 which is cheaper and affordable. but with a lower storage capacity (1GB/2GB/4GB/8GB/15GB/20GB/40GB)
(1GB/2GB is for ipod shuffle and sony mp3) (4GB/8GB is for ipod nano.) (1GB and above is for creative products) .if u have the money u shud straight away go to ur local Apple store and buy the iPod 80GB. it is worth it .(about $5 per Gigabyte.)

keep your music alive!

only you can answer that. I bought mine, i do not regret it, but i do not use it. then you have to buy accessories for it. and you can only use itunes to upload music on it. I would say if you had to ask the question, then no it's not worth it.
