I just asked the same question. I would say lots of it went to contractors and Bush pals. I would love to know the accountability for this. How much more can the American people swallow in this guy's stupid actions? This is a way for Bush pals to take anything they want while American soldiers pay with their lives for his foolishness. When will America wake up and impeach this fool before we are in World War 3. He and Cheney are now trying to instigate a full scale war with Iran and Iran has promised global retalliation. How much more death before they are satisfied?

Probably used to pay informants and others who help us...you are a civilian you do not have the Security Clearance high enough to find this out, just like the reporter who released the information...you are just mad because you can not find out...a question I have what are these Third World countries going to do with the 8 Billion Dollars our great Democratic congress is sending them for AIDS relief or research or what ever the hell they said it was for...maybe do some genocide?

It is a mess, the government has never been able to control its money, i sure hope heads roll over this, but I do not think the President has accountability for it, and if we need to send billions more for our troops then we need to send it, we just need to find better over site.

The usual. Embezzlement. Yet the constant disruption of rebuilding with destruction still ongoing is a key factor also.
BTW, EVERY wartime president has made huge mistakes with regards to military decisions. Many whose polls were in there teens ended up to be regarded among the greatest presidents in history.
Mistakes happen in war it is an unpredictable mess. Yet necessary to protect American lives and our economy. It is true if left unchecked that the terrorist could cause American soup kitchens to be overflowed way worse then the great depression.
The stakes are high.

The spend and spend Republicans... up to their drain-the-US-treasury mischief again... Oh, those nutty guys!!
The guy below doesn't read the news at all. he listens to Rush on drive time radio, and that's all he knows. There are extensive reports on all major news outlests about pallets of bundles of US currency going to Iraq in the first days of the conflict. If you're here to take a position, why don't you know this???

The money went to the soldiers and their families, to the contractors enticed overseas, to the manufacturers of military supplies.....it was basically pumped into the American economy, right to the people who needed it the most: middle-class, blue collar, hard working Americans.

It's not like he mailed them cash... it went in the form of troops, and the payment, food, supplies, and protection for those troops. I also goes to support the families at home.
