No.
But I think it's not the government's job to make sure that we all are in perfect health, either. I think that each individual is primarily responsible for their own health. The exception would be that parents should be responsible for their kids, and people who are unable to take care of themselves should ideally have someone who looks out for them. And that should be their family's responsibility first, before the government takes charge of their health.

Lowering the cost of health care would be a sign of real action. Go on a diet and compare the cost of healthy food apposed to the cheap filler foods .... it costs a fortune to eat healthy. The average worker doesn't get much exercise driving to work walking to a desk and sitting for 8 to 10 hrs, driving home, eating relaxing then hitting the sack. Here at home we work in house, tend to large animals, grow our own food and pay taxes. We do our part to promote a healthy Government, sometimes I feel they really aren't that concerned about our health, just our wallet.

It is not the job of the government to promote good health. It is up to US as individuals to promote and enact good health. The government is already getting in to being the food police which is outrageous. And since a handful of Americans wish to sue Burger King or Kentucy Fried Chicken because they are fat and instead of blaming themselves, they blame the people who make the product. When is it going to end???The government is taking away more and more personal rights and unless people wake up to this,we are on a down hill slope. What will be next?Taking twinkies out of our houses?

I think they do just fine... but mostly, they do too much.
Take the new Texas forced HPV vaccinations, for example.
The government shouldn't be able to *make* you get vaccines, etc. They need to butt out of people's lives, mostly. Help those that don't have a choice, but don't restrict those that do.
It's called personal freedom (and in turn, responsibility). We shouldn't blame the government if we turn out to be fat, etc.

I dont think it is their responsability, atleast not as far as they go. Why cant I go into an NY resteraunt and have something bad for me (trans fat). I mean if I eat good all week at home, why cant I treat myself. They go too far.

I'm not sure it's even their job to do anything more than what they already are. We are still a relatively free country able to do as we see best.
