People of Chinese ancestry live in dozens of countries. Here are the top 10 countries outside of China by total Chinese population:
Thailand -- 8.5 million
Malaysia -- 7.59 million
Indonesia -- 7.3 million
United States -- 3 million
Singapore -- 2.7 million
Philippines -- 1.5 million
Canada -- 1.3 million
Russia -- 680,000
Oceana -- 564,000
Australia -- 557,021
But, it seems almost a drop in the bucket compared to more than 1 billion in China of Han or related ethnic ancestry (what we think of as Chinese ancestry). There are also large numbers of people of Turkish and Tibetan ancestry who have been included in the population of China since Mao invaded central Asia around 1949.

There are major Chinese populations all over southeast Asia, the remenents of both a larger imperial China and several millenia of trading missions to those countries. Some of the countries with large Chinese presences are Vietnam, Malasia, and Indonesia. Japan has also seen a growing number of Chinese nationals, as students are beginnning to flock to their universities.
