Certainly he was the first commander to employ the theories of armoured warfare in wartime conditions. A Briton Basil Liddell Hart came up with the original theories on modern armoured warfare that the Germans put into effect in their Blitzkriegs.

He was not the father of modern tank warface, he , General Guderian, had conferred the title "Creator of theory of the conduct of mechanised war " to Captain Linddel Hart, but many historians on tank warface , argue that the title more properly belong to Colonel JFC Fuller, Both these 2 British officers served in 1st world war, Liddel Hart was very impressed by the exploit of the astonishing run of Lieut. Arnold's single tank "musical box" that inspired Hart to plan future tank strategy where the tanks are used as main offensive weapons instead of infantry supporting arms. Fuller was an Assistant to Brigadier General Hugh Elles who commanded the first British Tank Corps, Fuller wanted to use the tanks to breach the German defense line in connection to the infantry and would exploit further beyond the objectives. It is the combined forces of tanks and infantry and artillery that prompted Hart to write many theory and stategy of future tank warface, his works and theories were heavily engrossed by Guderian who perfected the famous German Blitzkrieg in 2nd world war (a conbined forces of tanks, artillery, air support, and mechnised infantry), FM. Erwin Rommel used it entirely as an offensive weapon in North Sahara desert, but he was totally lost without air support in the later war.

Doubtful - Fuller, Liddell Hart and a certain Charles de Gaulle all have to be added into the equation. Then of course there was Christie in the U.S. who devised a new type of suspension system so that tanks were faster and more mobile. All of these were voices crying in the wilderness.
