my heating system is being turned on/up without the use of my thermostat. is there anyway someone can turn my heat up/on by touching my oil burner in the basement? thanks for your help!

The thermostat has two wires which make a connection when the room called for heat. If you connect the two wires at the furnace it will act just like if the thermostat was calling for heat.

Can be done from the basement.

If you have a boiler the oil burner will come on by itself so to keep the temperature of the boiler jacket hot.
