I am.I did it twice had 2 10 year marriages and IM DONE!! Unless you are young and want kids I dont see any purpose in it at all.A marriage liscense gives you no guarentee the other person wont cheat, leave, lie or anything else and then its just alot of money to get out of it.My first husband was an abusive alcoholic jerk and I hung in there ,although I had my kids with him.The second husband was the complete opposite and I thought this is great,he doesnt drink, use drugs, everyone liked him he was always a great socializer, nice regular guy.Was with him for 13 years total, then he turned out to be a child molester, and a predator on the computer looking for teenage girls,he just got smart and started traveling to michigan where 17 was the legal age.Sick.So no my experiences have been bad,but at the same time that doesnt mean yours will. It always felt like things changed even though it was their idea to get married after we did then i just sensed they felt trapped.I dont know I just feel like if a person wants to be with you they will and you want them to stay because they want to not because they have to cause its so much b.s. to get a divorce.

I am afraid to get married. I have been engaged twice first time I just left the relationship second time was with the man for 14 years, we had the rings the money everything and I could not bring myself to do it. I left the relationship 5 years ago. Now my current boyfriend has asked me to marry him, I did say yes but will I go through with it? I do not know what it is but is really scares the heck out of me> I am 41 maybe it is about time I do.

I just got married in July and I have to say I wasn't the least bit worried, nervous or afraid. If you are with the right person, you won't be afraid!

Marriage [to the right woman] doesn't frighten any mature man (contrary to what women read in their silly magazine articles written by clueless hacks).
Marriage to the wrong woman [bad attitude, inflexible taker, nutcase/emotionally unbalanced, an "actress" who says the right things but does the wrong things (has no integrity), incapable of respecting a man, etc] scares every healthy and experienced man, and it should scare them because there are a lot of women out there that don't deserve that kind of commitment, and if you get tied down to one of them, you'll wind up losing everything you've worked for and paying somebody who's dating a string of losers to raise your kids.
Just read kittysumer[whatever''s blurb above: she's an actress: she has told some guy she's going to marry him, but doesn't really know if she will. No integrity.

I think a lot of people are. It's a huge change in your life.
It's a perfectly normal thought.
I know I was terrified of the idea. But I have now been married for over 5 years, and life is really good

Who isn't? It's a major change in your life. It takes honor, repsect, and commitment. Both people have to be ready to take that on or it's not going to work. It's scary to take a risk like that and trust that the other person will be in it til the end just like you are. I guess you just have to trust in that person. Don't not talk about it though with your soon-to-be....it's healthy to share true feelings and fears. It will hopefully bring you closer to one another.

I think everyone is afraid of marriage a little, it's such a huge committment with no definet security that it will last forever.
