Next year, one of the members wants to have a bid league instead of the traditional draft as we have been doing.I am not in favor of this.Yes you can get players that you want but you cannot take suprise players at the end without someone knowing that you know of them.I drafted Marques Colston with the last pick last year.I also drafted Rob Bironas the year before and Lawrence tynes the year before that.I love getting sleepers that no one knows of.What arguments can I bring to not turn to a bid league? Thanks

If you are the commish, just say no... If it's only 1 who wants it then the people who aren't in favor overrule anyway... if you aren't the commish just leave

Auction drafts are SOOO much more fun than a snake draft. There is alot more strategy that goes into the draft. You have to stay active throughout the draft to know how much money/points others have to know if they can out bid you and who controls the board, as in who can take the best available at any price. So say nobody had mentioned McNabb for QB, and you have 28 points left and the next highest point total is 21, if you bid 21, you have him because noone else can outbid you.

You have to keep in mind who is still available, what positions you still need, and how you can still manage your points so that you can get the best available players at each position as possible.

If you have never done a auction/bid draft, I HIGHLY recommend at least try it once. Maybe your league wants to try it out for one year with the understanding that you could go back to a snake draft the following year if people don't like it.

I'm not sure too many people would have tried to outbid you for Marques Colston before the season started, so you can still pull suprise players in bidding leagues.
