Same concept, different businesses. Yes, it's a business - the owner organizes the pageant and sells the TV rights to cover costs and hopefully make a profit. The TV network in turn sells advertising time, hoping to make a profit. The advertisers - well, you know.
The girls compete hoping to get scholarships, cash and prizes, and name recognition. Some Miss Americas have gone on to acting careers, for example.

Not much a black wins every other year and the years they don't win it seems they are runner-up. No doubt this is setup from the word go. There will be a black or some other non-white win every other year. What a joke black women competing against whites in beauty. LMMFAOATM!
