I live in a small town and we always say hello regardless of whether we know each other or not. Another nice thing, if you're in your yard or driving down the street, you ALWAYS wave at whoever's going by. Small towns are nice that way. When I go to a larger town, I catch myself doing it too. People kind of get caught off guard when you smile, make eye contact and say hello. Good habit to get into. Doesn't cost you a thing.

Every morning when my kids leave for school, I remind them to say something nice to someone and "spread a little sunshine". I try to do the same. If everyone tried to be pleasant a little more often the world would be a happier place.

I always try to be friendly, but society in general is getting ruder...people just don't raise their children to respect others any more. Sad, but true!

no,

I only say "it's been my pleasure" when it actually has been for me. Otherwise, it's "you're welcome."

Do I make a habit of greeting complete strangers?
