The only thing arguing can do is cause you more stress which can raise your blood pressure. High blood pressure during pregnancy can cause some complications.

Doctors still don't know exactly what causes Down Syndrome, but it is nothing to do with anything either parent has done. I have a daughter with DS and have talked this over with both my OB and a Genetics Specialist.

Down syndrome is determined by the baby's genetic make-up, not the outside environment. As for arguing, well, my hormones have been going crazy and I argue with my fiancee about lots of things. Luckily, he takes it well. Excessive stress causes "bad hormones" to be released in your body and cause complications during your pregnancy, but it will NOT cause Down syndrome.

Down syndrome is a genetic issue nothing to do with stress or arguing. To understand why Down syndrome happens, you need to understand a little about chromosomes. What's a chromosome? They are thread-like structures within each cell and are made up of genes. Genes provide the information that determines everything about people, from hair color to whether they are girls or boys.
Most people have 23 pairs of chromosomes, for a total of 46. But a baby with Down syndrome has an extra chromosome (47 instead of 46) or one chromosome has an extra part. This extra genetic material causes problems with the way their bodies develop.
What you need to know:
Pregnancy is a stressful time for many women. You may be feeling happy, sad and scared—all at the same time. It’s okay to feel like you do. Very high levels of stress may contribute to preterm birth or low birthweight in full-term babies, however, so you should try to learn how to cope with it.

What you can do:
Recognize that you do indeed feel stressed. Accepting the fact you are stressed and identifying the situations that cause you stress are the first steps in helping reduce it. You can also help reduce your stress by:

Eating regularly and nutritiously and drinking lots of water.
Resting when you can—and when your body needs it.
Exercising (with your health care provider’s okay).
Relaxing by meditating, listening to music or writing in a journal.
Resisting any urges to drink alcohol, smoke or take herbal products or drugs (except those prescribed by your health care provider).
Staying away from stressful people and stressful situations, when possible.
Talking—to your partner, friends, relatives and health care professionals. If you feel overwhelmed, talk with a trained counselor or other mental health professional.
Going to all your prenatal care appointments. This will give you the reassurance that everything is okay with your baby or let your health care provider know about a problem while there is still time to do something about it. You’ll feel less stressed because you know you are doing the best for your baby.

You may be serious in asking... but that was a funny question!

NOOOOOOOOO TO DOWN SYNDROME.. You probably should read up on development.

And not so much in complications the way you think!

Arguing.. causes stress for you and your baby!
It can affect your blood pressure!
We are made very resilient!

But, why are you arguing so much?... and or you don't want to use it as an excuse so that you can have your way! Please don't start with that way of thinking!

Just pray for peace of mind and peace for your baby.. And your the adult... make wise decisions!

Downs Syndrome is an error of genetics. Most commonly in the 21st pair There are other forms of downs Cris du Chat ( cry of The cat) so called because of these infants cries sound cat like and this error is in the 13th/14th pair of chromosomes. None of the Downs errors are caused by arguments or any other stress factor.

Stress can cause high blood pressure and lead to complications of pregnancy. It can also result in increases in adrenalin and is considered one of the causes of Hyperactivity in the unborn. Some think it also contributes to A.D.D in later life of children. This is still under research

Arguing during pregnancy can put stress on the mother, and that could potentially cause complications. I don't think that arguing can trigger a genetic abnormality like Downs.

I don't know about complications, but I know it WOULD NOT cause down syndrome. Down syndrome is a genetic disorder.

Verbal arguments CANNOT give you a genetic disorder. It can, however, cause complications due to stress and tension.
