What should you do if someone seems to be intentionally and seriously trying to have you lose control of your temper by doing things like a bold faced lie?

This has to do with employee-employee as well as employee-employer relations.

Thanks for all the advice. The advice helped me to sort this out in my mind. After thinking it over I have a better idea of how to avoid this in the future. But, it does have to do with employee-employer communications. I do not smoke, drink, and am vegetarian as well as other concerns for yoga. Some of the people I work for or who my senior with the company may not abstain like this. They may have these little opinions of me. I've had this happen in employment situations in the past. It is so important to have really good communication with one's employers. And if one has very different beliefs about living this can result in communication problems. Am I to blame for keeping with my health concerns and faith? Of course, I cannot deviate from my health concerns and faith.

Go to your supervisor. If this does not help, go to the next level. Also, at most jobs there is a 1-800 number to call to report harassment, which this sounds like. REPORT it. No one has the right to create a hostile environment for you to have to work in. This can be stopped without action being taken against you for reporting it. It is illegal to harass you and to harass your for reporting it. Get it taken care of before you do lose your temper and you are in trouble.

Good luck

I have almost the same problem actually. Obviously someone is intimidated by you. they may think you are going to get the promotion they want or etc... Have you tried going to the head of your company? If that doesn't work you can always try killing that person with kindness. that seems to be working for me. Don't let them know they are driving you crazy or they will continue to do so or worse. Good Luck.

Just don't let them know it bothers you. If they know that they are getting under your skin they will just keep on doing it over and over again.Don't give them the satisfaction of getting the best of you.

I empathise with you!!!!
All I can say is ..... never fight with an idiot. STAY CALM and PROFESSIONAL... Been there! One of the most difficult things to do is to remain level headed and amicable toward your opponent ... but it works ... worked for me.
good luck.
