It seems that the major companies can't get a simple order right 1 out of 4 times. What do you do when this happens. Do you feel you should have to check your order at the window? I don't! They should put someone on the window that going to get it right I feel. I would like to hear what you do when the order is wrong. I know what I did in one case and will add it to this after I choose the best answer. One thing I do when I have to go back is tell them they now owe me for the gas to come back because of their mistake.

I always check my order once out of the drive thru, if it's wrong I go inside the building and let someone working there know that they made a mistake with my order. If it' ssomething that happens often I ask to speak to the manager and tell him my complaint. It's really hard for the people taking your order because they are multitasking, they are talking to you, giving change back to the next guy and taking down your order. It's also harder when the guy taking your order doesn't speak english very well... a mistake once is ok but a mistake so many times isn't.

I have had a majority of my orders screwed up at the drive thru. I now check my order before I leave. If they mess it up I don't really make a stink about it I just park the car and go in and have them correct it. Usually, they will through in something for free and free stuff is always a plus. :) If I forget to check and get home to find my order is all messed up (like the wrong food, missing items etc....) I immediately call the restaurant and speak to the manager and let them know of the error. I then drive back to the place (unless the do delivery then I make them bring it to me) and they give me the correct order for free. Never had them pay my gas, but that would be nice too. LOL

PS. I just think they need to hire people who can understand and speak English correctly. How wouls you like it if I spoke Chinese to you when you were trying to order a hamburger. Would you know what I was saying and would I know what you were saying. I am all for people having jobs to support their families and all, but if you are going to be communicating with the American public then learn our language appropriately first and learn about our foods too so that ordering can be a simple matter. Afterall, I study many languages and learn the basics before I even visit other counteries.

I usually don't go to the drive thru, for just this reason. I go inside, and still completely check the order before I leave. If, for some reason I do go to the drive through, I completely check the order before I pull away.

If something is missing, I let them know that it is missing and then ask for a manager. I let the manager know what happened and that I am none too happy about the whole situation and ask what they plan to do to prevent it from happening again. Don't know if it fixes the problem, but at least it makes them aware of the situation. I also get the managers name, that way if it happens again, I can refer back to that conversation and elevate if from there if necessary.

I've gotten to the point where I check my food before I leave the parking lot. If something is wrong I go back in and bring it to their attention. If they are apologetic and have a good attitude about correcting their mistake, I thank them and leave.
If they have a bad attitude and are rude about fixing my order, I simply grab extra napkins on my way out (if available); some for the car, some for home, etc.. maybe some extra ketchup packets as well. It may seem petty, but it keeps me from becoming enraged.

I rarely use drive-thrus, as I prefer to sit down and enjoy the meal instead of eating on the run. If they do make a mistake, I usually go back, park, go inside, and talk to someone. So far, I've never had any trouble making the order right.

I go in and talk to the manager the first few times then call the toll free number and make a complaint. They have shut 1 Burger King down here and the other is not looking so good. They are looking for it to close in the next 6 months.
Then there will be no BK's left in our town.

sometimes we just bare it because we are already home and then if its on our way out of town what can you do, on the freeway and in a rush???
but then again these people are handling our food so i wouldn't trust the drive tru to get something they forgot i rather go inside cause you can see if they messed w/ your food like mcd's the burgers are there in a line.
sometimes we call them and my hubby yells with f/b/a words
the last time we got a happymeal with no food just fries and a napkin i was pisst.

When you really think it comes back like you place an order and you get free food i doubt anyone gives it back and tell tell they gave us extra food i know i wouldn't want my food touch by someone else and then gave to me sick!!!!

now i check my food twice before i leave

They should give it you you free if they get the order wrong. I get so mad so now I check before I drive away. They also need to put people that speak English at the window, that would help matters.

The SMART thing to do is check you food before you pull off. The restaurants around us are known for not so good service, so we ALWAYS double check our food when in a drive-thru line. You can't always depends on an underpayed worker to be superman. They make mistakes sometimes.

I always check my order before I leave the Drive Thru. Mcdonalds is good for forgetting things. I ask for the manager if there is something missing.
