Recently I read in a paper about a person getting invovled in a case in which he had nothing to do. He was invovled & arrested for something he did'nt do. It was a car stealing car case in which he was a car dealer. Althougth he was innocent he was daily harressed by the cops as he was easy victim. Anyways he got the bail & now case is still going in the court but one thing that interested me about his case was when he entered in the court he & everone invovled in the case was told by the cops to remove their slippers/shoes that they were wearing. Now here I don't understand that why were they told to remove their shoes before entering the court? Were they afraid of something dangerous hidden in their shoes/slippers?

Either that or they thought they'd throw shoes at each other.

Very unusual indeed.

Being in law enforcement over 30 years the only thing I can think of would be where the court is concerned about "court security."

Remembering post 9/11 several instances of potential use of shoes concealing weapons and/or explosive devices, the court security may find it easier to have shoes removed versus extended searches prior to entering the courtroom to facilitate faster safety/security procedures.

Hope this helps!

Yes, they were concerned that there would be weapons in people's shoes.

I arrested a man once who had concealed a gun in his shoe. I didn't find it until I was booking him, and had him remove his shoes. [not posting more details to avoid giving ideas to any would-be weapon concealers] It was an enlightening experience, to say the least.

I remember when paranoia was read about in abnormal psychology books and seen in some movies, but not so blatant in everyday life! Those were the good old days!
