People have asked me before how to replace rotten posts in buildings? is there an alternative to putting treated wood back in the ground?

After doing some research, I found perma-columns on the net. check them out - www.tristatepc.com. I wonder if they would work?

Treated wood should be wrapped in plastic when underground. This prevents the chemicals in the wood from leaching. It should last up to 30 years depending on how the wood is treated.

Try double galvanized steel pipe on a pre-cast footing block.
