Quite simply because isolationism doesn't work anymore. George Washington could not have foreseen the interconnectedness of the modern world. We are all reliant each nation upon the others to a very large degree. So problems in other parts of the world lead to negative effects at home.

Exactly. I haven't able to figure that out myself. Maybe our government is too busy trying to look high and mighty to all the other countries. Of course, you and I know how disastrous that is for our country. We're over there rebuilding Iraq, and how long ago was Hurricane Katrina? Many of those areas still haven't been rebuilt. ooooooooooh, Bush went to "see the devastation." But what did he do? He may as well have spat on the people. It's too bad that so many of our politicians are idiots. It makes ya lose hope for our country's future. =-(

Sadly, there is no police to call, no one else to help.
If you are a big kid and you see a little kid getting beat up, will you just watch ?
No one esle will help......They talk about how bad it is....and thats about all
