If it has direct drive like a lot do, it may be the motor coupling between the motor and transmission. It is quite common for them to fail but luckily are fairly easy to change if you are mechanically inclined. The coupling only costs about $15. You might go on line to the manufactures web site and they should have information about your machine. ...Good Luck...

it should be the drum bearings, they could have worn to such an volume that the stability sensor received't allow the drum progression into the spin cycle (it should be risky). replacing the bearings is a quite large and professional pastime, very almost monetary in the experience that your gadget were 2-3 years old yet when that's had countless use (at 6 years old i wager it has), you're extra effective putting you money in the route of a clean one.

It's probably out of balance... maybe the last load you washed was too heavy? Try to rotate it enough to fix it and don't over load it again! I have the same problem with the used washer we have. Good luck!!

karate,
If you hear the motor going while it's supposed to be agitating/spinning...it's likely the belt.
It's an easy fix...I suggest going to your local library and checking through self-repair manuals to see how your model is put together...you should have no trouble gettting the appropriate belt through an appliance repair shop or online.

Broken Agitator. Most common, said the man who fixed it.
Call a repair man, I was delighted to find that $40 fixed it in about thirty minutes!
(Now that was two years ago, and we lived in the Midwest.)

a broken belt that drives the washer..sometimes they just slip off also and need to be put back on. Either job is fairly easy..I'm a clutz and I can even do it.

It is probably either a belt if your model has one or the motor.
