From watching the news I know many transwomen are murdered. The almost universal defense of these men are they thought they were picking up a women only later to discover it was a man or a post-op transgender. They panicked and killed the "man in the dress". I think this is a lame excuse to take a life. Maybe to at least hit the trans in a fit of blind rage, ok I can rationally understand that but to kill her? No I think these men went too far and they deserve life in jail. I know to be a trans is dangerous and they are assaulted all the time even when they are minding their own business. There is one thing I do not understand about some trans women. They have full knowledge that there are violent bigots out there. Yet they choose not to be honest about their trans status (pre-op or post-op) when engaging in a sexual relationship. Why would some transwomen intentionally place themselves in such a potentially dangerous position? I want to know at the time what was she thinking?

As far as placing themselves in dangerous positions, I would say that a transgender person is already a bit low in the self esteem part. Should they be beaten and murdered? Absolutely not. There is no excuse for that sort of violence.

Thank you for asking an intelligent question about this terrible subject. As a genderqueer transactivist, I've done some thinking on this too. From the research that I've done, the majority of violent crimes against transwomen don't happen because of the whole "tranny suprise" thing. It's usually transphobic hate crimes. On the off chance this does happen though, I agree the "gay panic" excuse is wrong. As human beings we're expected to be more rational and civil than that. If not, then that individual needs to be put down just like any other animal that threatens the lives of others. As for the transperson, I think just like any other group *some* transwomen take unnecessary risks.

Those violent bigots always forget one super important thing...

...minimum wage...

ONE punch -- even touching someone or verbally assaulting ANYONE -- can get you 18 months in jail. It doesn't matter irregardless if you were frightened or had a "panic" attack moment.

And it gets MUCH better...Bubba is waiting for you in jail...you're her brand new virgin girlfriend...

Here's the best part...AFTER the first punch, you'll probably get some face time at the big house and I don't mean the local barney house, I mean MEDIUM security facility -- you've assaulted someone and are now a threat to society -- so you get DOUBLE digit jail time...that's at least a decade in jail for stupidity and belligerence...

How's that grab ya ?

Is it really worth the stupidity, crazy thoughts and selfishness to lose your family, your friends, your kids and to not have sex with anyone for very long periods of time....?

...minimum wage for the rest of your life...is it worth it ?

they just want to be themselves. you can't imagine how is growing up knowing you're not really you you feel and know your supposed to be different. so some trangenders are willing to risk their lives knowing it may be a horrible result in the end due to society. society just still isn't or not willing to except different people in all types of different situations weather there small people to handicap and it's sad. you never know what people are thinking they want to do is like i said is be themselves.

i agree with you about those sick fu*ks who kill those poor women. you should read the story about Gwen Araujo.

Some people are ignorant and just basically hateful and cruel.

They'll use any excuse to hurt or kill.

In my book such "people" are animals.

Contrary to the desires of those with the PC agenda, most people are not going to accept this deviant behavior. The gay/lesbian/trans lifestyle is deviant, immoral, and people are not going to be forced to tolerate it. Sorry, but it's the truth, and they will continue to be beaten and murdered. I think it's wrong to harm these people, but I understand how it can happen. I believe it is between the deviant person and God in the end. They will be punished.
