From watching the news I know many transwomen are murdered. The almost universal defense of these men are they thought they were picking up a women only later to discover it was a man or a post-op transgender. They panicked and killed the "man in the dress". I think this is a lame excuse to take a life. Maybe to at least hit the trans in a fit of blind rage, ok I can rationally understand that but to kill her? No I think these men went too far and they deserve life in jail. I know to be a trans is dangerous and they are assaulted all the time even when they are minding their own business. There is one thing I do not understand about some trans women. They have full knowledge that there are violent bigots out there. Yet they choose not to be honest about their trans status (pre-op or post-op) when engaging in a sexual relationship. Why would some transwomen intentionally place themselves in such a potentially dangerous position? I want to know at the time what was she thinking?

This is walking the line of blaming the victim. If I read your question right, you are saying that because of a lie this person deserved to die. Do you know that most of these victims are also raped before they are beaten to death? I don't know why people aren't honest in their relationships, and while hiding one's gender or former gender is a biggie, so is lying about being married. So I guess the answer is, does every hetersexual man who cheats on his wife and doesn't tell the other woman that he's married, deserve to be raped and beaten to death because of that lie?

When a man cheats on his wife, the wife questions herself, is she good enough, sexy enough, pretty enough, she questions her womanhood. A man in the situation of finding out his "girlfriend" is a man, or was a man, feels emasculated and questions his manhood. In both situations, both are concerned as to how they will be percieved in society. I suppose there are extreme cases where the wife does kill the husband, but this doesn't happen often.

I imagine the transgendered (in the case of post surgery), person is thinking that it doesn't matter, because she is now female. I don't know how a presurgery person expected to not have that noticed, but many times these relationships go on a while before anything is "discovered". I think the killers do know, and they get found out by their friends and to save face they kill. The male ego in alot of cultures doesn't make logical sense.

In any situation, no one purposefully askes to be raped, brutalized and killed. The victim is that, a victim. There is never any excuse for killing another human being.

Thank you for asking an intelligent question about this terrible subject. As a genderqueer transactivist, I've done some thinking on this too. From the research that I've done, the majority of violent crimes against transwomen don't happen because of the whole "tranny suprise" thing. It's usually transphobic hate crimes. On the off chance this does happen though, I agree the "gay panic" excuse is wrong. As human beings we're expected to be more rational and civil than that. If not, then that individual needs to be put down just like any other animal that threatens the lives of others. As for the transperson, I think just like any other group *some* transwomen take unnecessary risks.

Ignorance on anyone's part can be a very dangerous thing.Perhaps looking for acceptance led this poor individual down an unsafe path where they had the great misfortune of encountering either evil in its most base form or another instance of ignorance at its elemental level. Its a sad world where any individual regardless of race, religion or personal orientation meets with any form of violence, but an unfortunately tragic fact of life..Our greatest ally in all this is education against ignorance and intolerance, but along the way the path will be scattered with too many victims for want of an open mind. It's a sad , sad thing but a basic truth. The only light is knowing that there are people out there who will fight for knowledge, change and understanding. Open your minds and your hearts, people!

just look at the comments below, most men have huge egos omg they kissed a man, idiots yet expect women to snog all the time. neway killing? that's sick. in any situation. trans shoud be honest to straight men. but at the same time shoud be free to look how they want to, i heard some men are gay because they have female hormones? something to do with the mind and how they think i dont know. they wear what they feel comfortable in despite the risk, men may do it because they think they can get away with it they should look behind the make up etc, were all equal. yes jail for life and a lesson on not to be narrow minded and violent.

I don't know that this is a change from the way things have always been or that it's just being reported more now..However the number of sex changes has gone up recently I believe. Whatever..the transgendered woman you are speaking of (and all of them) don't put themselves in a situation that is dangerous because they want to be killed. I think that they just want to be loved (like everybody else). I think it's terribly sad.

Those people all went to jail...the best part though is this...

...minimum wage...

For the rest of your life you'll earn...minimum wage...after prison...

NO employer will EVER hire anyone who is physically aggressive...

Some people just can't handle themselves, they'd rather lose their benefits and make minimum wage for the rest of their lives....

...minimum wage...

99.9% of the time the murder happens after the guy has got his rocks off and suddenly "discovers" that the girl is a t-girl. It has nonthing to do with blind rage. The killers knew who they were with but to protect their fragile pathetic egos they beat and sometimes kill the girl to prove to themselves that they were "tricked."

Your blame the victim rant is BS and you know it.

Because so many people out there are angry, frightened individuals indoctrinated against anything and everything that even remotely deviates from the norm.
