In addition to what CREW said, getting points for supplying your team mates and reviving them as a medic will also help increase your rank.

The rank you get in custom games are temporary and only for that game. Stripes you get in ranked games are permanent as long as you don't go around killing your team mates, then you will lose stripes.

if your playing online in ranked or player match you can see the ranks above your teammates head, all you have to do is kill more enemies.

Kill 10 Enemies get a rank up (1 stripe above your head)
Kill 20 Enemies get a rank up (2 stripes above your head)
Kill 30 Enemies get a rank up (3 stripes above your head and this is the maximum amount of stripes you can get, you can't rank up anymore.)

You mean as in rank? well if thats the case you just gotta play ranked matches and get enough points to level up your rank...it goes all the way to 3 stripes i think
