All it takes are some those with shovels to sparkling their own pathways and the pavements earlier them. Get the gritters out and arranged for whilst the snow falls, money isn't a controversy via fact the money is there and it could be there somewhat of lining the grasping elite's wallet. there are strategies and ability to handle snow, however the united kingdom can not, via fact? i don't be conscious of! Even China can cope, so as that exhibits each little thing that i'd desire to be conscious of approximately this lot fairly.

When a county is not used to dealing with freak weather conditions then it would not have ideal facilities or methods to tackle the problems. The U.K is not the only country that suffers this poor preparation for when weather conditions act out strangely and unorthodox.

It doesn't snow much in the UK so people are unprepared. In the Scottish Highlands where snow is more common (and there's more of it) people don't have anything like the same problems.

Because it's not a common problem there's not much provision for dealing with it - we rely on a small number of snow ploughs to keep a large number of roads open. In places where snow is common there's snow ploughs and snow blowers everywhere.

Our roads and railways aren't designed for dealing with snow. In some parts of Scotland where they are more likely to be affected there are snow barriers alongside the roads to prevent drifting and even the odd avalanche tunnel.

Individuals themselves aren't used to dealing with snow and it only takes one person who's not familiar with driving in snow to get stuck and effectively close a road down. How many times have you seen someone on even a slight hill with their foot flat on the accelerator, wheels spinning and the vehicle sliding in all directions?

Further, we rely on the Councils to get things moving again and to keep the roads and paths free of snow. In many other countries people get their snow shovel out and do it themselves and actually help other people out.

Any excuse not to work methinks. Certainly wasn't like this in 1947 and early 60's. The country has gone soft and Canadians must laugh at us.

Why don't you (or people if you don't have a car) buy snow chains or have different winter tyres for their cars in the UK? why is it not a routine part of the driving test to learn how to deal with blizzards?

Same answer.

Because we are a bunch of wimps (bar myself and others out there) who wake up, open the curtains and see an inch of snow and then call in work to say its too 'trecherous' . All the solicitors I work for are working from the comfort of their home today and I am having to ring them up to read them their post, email docs etc and its v. time wasting !

As our periods of snow are fairly short, it is cheaper to put up with the inconvenience than make the investment in additional road cleaning equipment and snow tyres.
