Try the free ads in the backs of specialised magazines, If you live in the U.K there are two radio controlled car magazine's "Radio control car racer" and "Radio race car" both can be bought from WHSmith or model shops.
Ask if you could put up an ad in your local model shop some have notice boards depicting model clubs etc..
Also try
Local model clubs where nitro cars are raced
Newsagent windows
Supermarket advertisement notice boards
But also give eBay a try, you could always put a reserve price on the car.

Everyone else already had great ideas, so here's an off beat one... Around here, all the car dealerships are usually down one big street all around each other. Park your car on that particular street (if you have one where you are) and put a big sign on it. You know people down that street are car hunting anyway, and they might like the price of your car compared to the ones on the lot! :) And while you are parked for a few hours, you can spend that time searching for and test driving some cars you're interested in.

I suppose that you could try Tazbar - it won't cost you anything if it doesn't sell:
http://www.tazbar.com/
Or maybe, if you type 'nitro powered rc car' or its actual make, etc, into a search engine, you may come across a wanted ad or similar ones for sale which would help you decide where to advertise it?
