Why? Why not?

It's been 20+ years, I'm so tempted to write. Although it ended very badly I still feel we are kindred souls.

its really hard to completely let go of a love. and the longer time passes the more we romanticize the memories we have left.

as a passtime ive searched the heavens and earth for my first love. ive found him on myspace-though he hasnt accessed his account since 2005. all ive found are dead ends. but the fact that i have found things keeps me hopeful of something. its a stupid hope, especially since i am currently in a loving relationship, but....

maybe its a sense of closure. maybe i really truly care how hes doing in his life today. maybe i want to try and recreate being 16. not sure. but if i did find reliable contact information for him, i dont even kno that id be able to do anything about it. interrupt his life. confuse mine. its just so hard to let go. especially when im really bored at work, sitting online 8 hours a day...

It's so funny you should ask that. The other day, out of the blue, I started wondering what happened to my first boyfriend from high school (30 years ago). So I googled his name, for the fun of it. I found a newspaper article that went back to 1/27/2003. He was living in the north, USA, went to a party, passed out. When the party was over, his "friends" loaded him up in his van, where he froze to death. It was 2 days later before he was found. Tragic. But, he was still a partying fool like he was when I dated him in school. That's what broke us up.

If it's been 20 years and it ended badly, leave it alone. If they wanted contact I am sure they would have initiated it by now.

Do it...you will regret it if you don't. who knows she probably feels the same way and if she doesn't at least you tried.
