Does anyone know why Superman's eyes continually change between blue and brown in "Superman Returns"? Is this a mistake, or is it intentional and meant to mean something?

Jordan L - how dare you make any assumptions about me, or any other person on Yahoo answers. If you'd bothered to read my question properly, you would have noticed that I simply offered 2 explanations for the eye-colour change, and encouraged others to put forward their own opinions. If you ever get the urge to use the phrase "you women" again, don't you dare put it an answer to one of my questions.

Brandon routh has brown eyes and wears contacts to play the blue eyes boy scout. Any scenes where they are borwn are ones where he forgot to put theminto his eyes. they are bloopers, nothing mythical about it
but some of these would win an old dc baldy award!

i believe you watched the DC Universe Online Blur Cinematic trailer. If you have been on IGN lately there is a video which explains everything that is going on in the video. Superman has the ability of heat vision, add that to a very angry superman and you get red eyed superman, when superman is angry, he becomes a lot more powerful and dangerous, in the video you hear him say to luther that he doesnt deserve to live and we all know superman is not like that, he always gives luther up instead of killing him. In the video superman is angry because Metropolis has been destroyed and the justice league is being killed off one by one. So basically, when our favourite superhero Superman gets really really angry, his eyes glow red, making him much much more dangerous because he just doesnt care what happens as long as he stops what ever is going on and makes him calm. Personally i think a red eyed superman looks killer, i mean he look awesome! ohhh and i think i forgot the fact that because superman is kryptonian he is powered by the yellow sun (earths sun). In the video he is very close to the sun, which accelerates his healing process and increases his powers dramatically, this could also add the the red eyes. But once again, the main reason is because he has heat vision and his eyes go red when he is angry. Just watch the video below and skip to about 5.45, at this point in the video the reason is given, hope i helped (Y)

I dont know if this has anything to do with it, but in the other film supergirl. There kind were changelings. Thats why she never needed a costume or school uniform, and that was why her hair changed from blonde to brunette within a bat of an eye lid.
Not many people know that.

It's a mistake, caused by using different filters on the camera lens. Normally they touch it up in post-production. Personally, I hadn't noticed.
But anyway, Superman of the comic books had/still has blue eyes.

Its probably just a mistake as movis cost a lot to produce and a hell of a lot of work so the directors just forget about the tiny details that we dont miss :P

Good girl !!!
I think they were working a bit sloppy. Like also in
"Austin Powers"... Sometimes Dr Evil has shiny blue eyes,
the next scene he is seen with Bernstein-brown eyes...
There was someone sleeping --- at work...
S**t happens everywhere.
Aaron.

I never noticed it. surely if it has some meaning to it the director would have made it more obvious. My guess is its either a mistake or just a little easter egg (as thair called)

They go brown when he's about to use the lazer beams to melt something - or even if he thinks he might need to use the lazer beams!
