French would open a lot of doors for you as far as getting a good job. Knowing more than one language is an asset in the working world. Could you major in French and do a minor in sociology.

Sociology is a wonderful major, but if you don't plan on going any further (Masters or higher) your employment outlook for Sociology is kind of dim. I mean, c'mon, the American Sociological Association has to develop a poster to promote jobs you could get with a bachelors in Soc! What's that telling you?
And let me lay it all on the table; I love sociology. I have a degree in it; I've applied for a Master's program in it. But, for the ten years I've had the bachelor's, I've had to justify to employers how it is appropriate and relevant to work, whereas I wouldn't have to do that if I majored in, say, French and wanted a job as an interpreter, or international work, or what have you.
If its French and soc, I'd say French, but if you've choices of other languages, I'd say pick another, like Spanish. And again, I LOVE French...I took seven years of it through high school and college; Spanish, Japanese, and (in it's own way) German are more marketable. But French will get you far. Really.
Good luck.
