Indian IT companies fall into three categories:

For IT
According to the Kind of work
we can devide them into
3 categories
BPO- ITes (Business Process Outsourcing, IT Enabled Services)
Product Based
Project Based

Most Companies are Project Based working on PHP, .NET and JSP.
There are quite a few Product Based.
Now number of BPO companies are rising.

I think the biggest problem with the IT companies is that they fail to identify the correct talent pool.
They move to campues for talent.
But the people who do not have any campuse placement at their college or they are being exploited at small companies and they have good potential should be given chance.

As India is a developing country many of the talented programmers like me dont get a good break and they are exploited to the fullest by Small Companies.

Large companies
Middle Level Companies and
Small Companies

Large Companies(TCS,InfoSys,Wipro)
If we consider the Large Companies they have got everything,
world class work environment but at the same time cheap labour costs so they make use of work force.

Middle Level Companies
They have their branches at US or UK. and they make use of cheap work force in India. Explotitation is there.

Small Companies
They generally do have a contact to some person in US, or some company in US(Generally owned by some Indian)
They just grab the projects(be it big or smaller ones), and work out the possibilities at lesser risk with cheaper work force.

Good implementors (but need to be managed), low operational margins because of the low labor costs.

They know little and spend little on marketing.......... no patents law fully implemented!!!!!!!!
