I have a 2 yr old loppeared male. He has been perfectly healthy. Recently, I got him a female who is 3 months. My male is fixed and they seemt o really enjoy each other. I see my female grooming him all the time. I have noticed that he now has spots of hair missing on his ears. Could this be the work of the female or could my male have a vitamin defiency? Im rather concerned.

The best people to ask is a rabbit rescue group. Not all vets care for rabbits.

Contact the House Rabbit Society. They have lots of information on rabbits.

Thank you so much for getting your rabbit neutered!!

Most likely it is due to the 3 month old female that you put in with him. Rabbits should be kept separated. Rabbits will chew the fur off of other rabbits when they are kept together. Another place you'll normally notice fur chewed off is on the front of the rabbit's face, just above it's nose and in between it's eyes. Sometimes you will also see bite marks where the other rabbit has bitten the rabbit's ears.

Separate the male and the female and I bet the fur on his ears will gradually come back. Actually, you're lucky that you haven't seen more damage done to either than just some fur missing on the buck's ears.

Plus, think about it. The problems didn't start until you introduced the doe to the buck and put them in the same pen.

this happened to a pair of rabbits that i used to have. they seem to be very close. which is very good. it probably is the female. if she is not spayed then that needs to be done, to calm her and it's a cancer prevention. ( i learned that the hard way with my first rabbit ). you should call a vet experienced with rabbits. google house rabbit society.

call your vet, love. He might have ear mites or something. Look for fleas as well....rabbits tend to pull out their hair from scratching at fleas.
