The Exorcist. People were fainting in the aisles, there were even stories of heart attacks. It was a huge event when it came out and has a big impact today. Silence of the Lambs comes a close second, Hannibal is the evilest villain in cinema.

Cujo Based on the Stephen King story. Reason It's well made and even though it's an oldie it is so possible that it's scarey. I suppose it's more a thriller though than a horror.
Saw was good too, but they had to go and ruin it by making Saw 2 and 3.

For me it has always been "The Exorcist"
I would say because it was my first horror movie and just seeing a commercial of it still gives me goose bumps. I saw The 25th anniversary release, the one with Megan doing the upside down spider walk down the stairs. Scared the crap out of me.
I haven't seen the grudge but I don't know if it would hold up against The Exorcist.

Incubus With Tara Reid
About: Tara Reid stars in this terrifying horror film about a group of young college students who, stranded after a car accident, find themselves trapped with a deranged killer in an abandoned factory. In a desperate scramble to escape the confines of the building, the group encounters a bizarre-looking test patient in a coma suspended in a triple-locked shatterproof clear cell who holds the key to their escape and ultimately, their survival
MY REVIEW:
This movie started out like many other movies in this genre do; a group of students go to a big, creepy haunted place for some type of experiment, and wind up crossing paths with a deranged psychopath who resides there. However, there are some plot twists and surprises thrown in as the film develops, and it dosen't drag out because there is plenty of action and suspense. Tara Reid fits the role well. The film works because the cast is balanced, attractive, and believe it or not, convincing enough that this film kept me guessing throughout. Without a doubt, Reid's finest performance. If you like films that are not big-budget Hollywood predictable fare, than you will enjoy this gem of a horror flick. If you are a Reid fan, you will like it as well. If you don't like movies like "Saw" and "The Haunting" than this may not be for you. Entertaining, scary fun with a twist at the end - can't beat that.
in other words: very scary thrilling suspensful and entertaining!!!!

I find it difficult myself, but there's one that scared the bejesus out of me cause it looked like it was actually based on facts. The haunted i think (not the haunting, with Zeta-Jones..what a pile of crap). Nothing spooky except the facts, its set in an everyday life format. Objects are always dissapearing, and one time a mother hears her husbands voice from the basement, she goes down and there's no one there....its not a film that tries to scare you like the regular junk. It looks fair dinkum...chilling

I would say that the EXORCIST was the greatest. mostly because demonic possession actually does happen. So there is a kind of frightening reality in it. That gives me the creeps!

I would have to say THE DESCENT
It was so creepy, those weird creatures really frightened me. I think it got the mix of jumpy moments and gore just right.
I still won't go down to my cellar alone!!!!

It's definitely Psycho by Alfred Hitchcock. It's an amazing classic, and it never loses its impact, no matter how many times you watch it. You should see it asap!
