2^x = 6
log(2^x) = log 6
x log 2 = log 6
x = log 6 / log 2 = 2.6 (to 1 decimal place by calculator)
Note that 8/3 = 2.7 to 1 decimal place.

If 2^x = 6 then x=2.585
for x to equal 8/3 is a contradiction.

2^x = 6 Taking log of both sides x*log 2= log 6
x = log6 /log2 =2.585 and not 8/3
