law of physics....snow gets in the way of things.....what you want to be asking is why do we in great britain allow ourselves to be so poorly prepeared for such events...because the policy in this country is shut the barn door after the horse has bolted!

It's the Great British Way for everything to pack up when a tiny inconvenience happens in our lives. Trains stop, schools close, everyone has a day off. We simply don't have the plans in place to keep the country running the way it should, in spite of the fact that it is not a new occurrence & happens every winter. Our Government is too busy with other issues to provide resources for gritter lorries to keep us on the roads, so we all have to take days off til the weather improves.

It is because we dont have it that often and when we do everyone panics and all schools have to close. Because we are not used to driving in the snow as much as people in the U.S.A the roads become bedlam and more accidents happen and within a few hours its all gone and we wonder what all the fuss was about

Snow doesn't stop much of anything here in the North East section of the USA. We're used to it.

It's a matter of perspective. I had a good buddy that always said he hoped it didn't snow more than four feet deep; then he couldn't get to the ski slopes. If you can't fight it, join it, right?
