Obviously there are many things that can change the outcome of an event, and missing key players might have been one of them. Another possible reason might also be that McClaren put in a lot of new players that haven't played with England long at all. That could also have changed the outcome.
Then, we must consider England's biggest flaw, that being the unability to use their talents to their best and perform well together. England does have an abundance of talent, but for some reason they never seem to showcase that when playing for the national squad. They also have the great inability to perform well together. Both of those might also be reasons for England's defeat.
You must understand...When we say "talent in abundance", we're not saying that England is able to put all that talent together to be a successful team. All that is being said is that England has a lot of talented players. They are just never able to play to their best abilities and play well together, like I already mentioned above.
They've got the talent, the players, but now they need the motivation and the teamwork to really get them places.

England do have some talented players
getting them to play together with confidence and to recognise each others abilities is more of a problem
the likes of Rooney look good because he will take a chance and have a go putting the other side under pressure
how many times in England matches do you see us advance then lay the ball backwards pussyfoot around midfield then lob a ball forward only to loose it
what happened to forward running into space football
ah i know it takes more EFFORT and fitness
why when in possession do we pass the ball back to the keeper for him to boot a ball up field to one of their players insane madness
is that called attacking football? don't think so more like playground football
When was the last time you saw a tottally exhausted england player after a match.
They get to much to have enough real desire to give that 110% thats needed for an england game.

We just aint got it.no balance, no shape,no idea. How wright phillips got into the squad is a complete mystery,i wouldnt put him in the u-21s never mind the full squad.Ferdinhand was his usual lazy self,i think he had a brainstorm when he went on a jaunt up field, completely left us short at the back.carrick was about as much use as a wet towel.phil neville passed the ball back more times than forward, infact did he actually pass the ball forward.dyer did his best considering he didnt get any support.crouchy was all arms tried to do the best he could ,but when you have no one to cross a ball what do you expect,McClaren tried to change the game play so many times ,i think even he got confused with what was going on.If you were to ask me how the squad will look for the Israel game then my squad would be this, thats if players were fit 1) robinson 2) G.neville 3) cole 4)hargreaves 5) terry 6) lampard 7) dyer 8) rooney 9) crouch 10) downing ( owen if he was fit ) 11)J.Cole.will we qualify? no,but it might do us good not to ,so we can build for the next world cup.

England has plenty of talented footballers but only a handful of world class players. Having said that, what we really need is a manager/coach who can pick the right players and stop playing them out of position.

Heard that the new England top is to have a red collar, it's to match the player faces on the park.

the spanish and other teams are better at keeping and passing the ball, they keep it simple short passes and don't always look to get the ball up field as quickly as possible, like we do, possession counts for a lot. They also support the man on the ball better and they always seem to have lots of options.
england need to pass the ball quicker aswell, it seemed to take an age for the ball to get from one player to the next.

I think one of the reasons that we seem to fail is that alot of these so called top players play alongside foreign players which i suppose makes them look good when clearly they are shite.
As for wayne rooney,he is only one man and it know good on relying on him to get us out of the shite.
Last night for me was one of the worst games that england have played,i actually swithed them off.
England are lucky to have kept the loyal fans who goto all the game`s if i was one of them i`d think about not bothering with spending my hard earned cash untill i thought they were it.

Its always noticeable that, despite England's best efforts, basic footballing ability all over the park always wins out. Spain have good footballing skills (ability to control the ball, see a pass, etc) in all positions, England don't... That's it.
