"Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes
as numbers increase. This is as true of humans in the finite space
of a planetary ecosystem as it is of molecules in a sealed flask.
The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the
system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who do
survive." - Pardot Kynes (First Planetologist of Arrakis)

Whilst this proposition may be true in the fictional Dune universe history in the real world shows that it is not so. If you think about it since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution and the subsequent population increase, freedom and democracy (however defined and flawed) has become more widespread. However, giving the way we are abusing the planetary ecosystem and the likely ecological catastrophe which will lead to conflicts over increasingly scarce resources, freedom and democracy may well be luxuries we can no longer afford.

I am not much on politics and am really not much on answering questions in the matter but the way you put it into a question was like poetry. I like quantum physics. You made it almost as interesting. If I may I would like to leave a comment though. The question isn't even that but how much more time the world will exist. In a world where everyone has enemies and many are quick to judge and get into others business it leaves no room for anything but war and terrorism. Maybe the problem is politics?

People are breeding and breeding and breeding. The birth rate is far higher than the death rate. You can only fit so many beans in a tin!

I only have to travel 9.5 miles to work it takes about half an hour to get there! I go into a shop to buy a pint of milk and im there 20 minutes. I go to a holiday camp to find it full and when i do get on i have to queue 15 mins to use the toilet!

Just scratching the edge (no not the toilet, lol)

Great post couldnt aggree more wish people would think about this more often.

The question is what kind of existence do we have today.Medical science has made advances in being able to increase the "life expectancy" of the sick and aged, but there has not been a change in the "quality" of this life.I see alot of older folks living in nursing homes and hospitals that are just sitting and doing nothing but wasting away while the hospitals and nursing home profit from their misery. We are a selfish being.I guess that is why religion is somewhat prominent in many of us.Very complex questions. No simple answers.

I would define freedom as a state of being where I am able to make choices that are not influenced by my passions, options, security, relationships with others, fear etc... I am only as free as I am able to detach from these things. Yes, I do think freedom does exist! Anyone that has been on the brink of despair and came back knows this to be true because they discover that their pain lies in the attachment to whatever is causing the distress. All these things are imperfect and they will leave me still wanting. ……for thou hast made us for thyself and restless is our heart until it comes to rest in thee. ~Saint Augustine

This makes perfect sense to me. I agree 100%. As we become more and more crouded we will lose freedoms. We will have to because when there are 100 people per square mile there wont be any room for people to do what they want. There will also be that many more bad people so everyone will have to lose rights in order to control the bad.

I agree in theory with you. However, I think the more you want, own and have the less free you really are. If you own a good bit of anything of value you are tied down in some way by taxes in supporting those things.

Oh yes....great question indeed!
I believe that is true. Years ago I heard that war is necessary to control the population. And I also learned about chemtrails that make sure people are going to suffer(and die) from one type of illness or another.

do you know these refugees that run from war torne countries, well there are two ways to acheive this, the economy is the outher way, keeping east european countries poor, enticing their people to migrate, to britain, it weekens their own country because of the talent drain, it weakens our country, but they provide the pro european government with more votes to help them surrender our country to europe, because the british natives want out.our own people are migrating to the us and oz ect ect these are refugees that are so sick of their own country they leave, which means more anti european votes leaving our shores, in short the world dominators are routing the nations and
making life miserable for those that are left, we have been captured, so who will defend britain, or who hasent been baught and paid for by the worlds blood suckers.

Yes, I believe that you have a good point. It becomes a question of organisation, and trying to get everyone to agree a working model for society. If there was only me, then?
