Yes, I was disappointed with the conclusion to Felicia's Journey... I suppose sadness isn't an emotion that I welcome.

However, it does feel more genuine than the standard artificial "happy" ending. Fortunately, we don't read this novel just for the final twist. It's the journey that matters, not the destination.

Some say that William Trevor writes the same way that Alfred Hitchcock directs... High praise indeed.
