My wife and I have booked air tickets to Singapore arriving 15/12/07. We want to immediately go to Phuket, returning to Singapore about 30 or 31/12/07. Air ticket prices are absurd. Any suggestions/alternatives or where cheaper air tickets can be obtained would be apprciated. Thanks. Peter

Tiger airways does cheap fares from Singapore. I've flown them and its a short flight with hard seats and absolutely no frills. Tiger offers really good deals 1 cent to 29.00 one way. Then add about 100.00 Sing in taxes. Just start checking their website starting next fall. By the way, two weeks in Phuket is a really LONG time. Unless your into laying around the beach or pool endlessly you are going to exhaust your entertainment venues in about max 3-4 days. Check out going to Chang Mai, Chang Rai or go to Myanmar for a few days. Fabulous country, lousy government. You can also easily get to Viet Nam. Terrific place to visit with outstanding shopping opportunities. Have fun!!

you could try leaving booking your onward tickets until you get to S'pore - try airasia and tiger air which offer short hop flights across asia at much chepaer rates. Enjoy yourselves - i haven't been to Phuket, but I know s'pore very well and absolutely adore it! If you want any ideas for what to see/do in S'pore, let me know!
PS make a point of eating at the hawker centres in s'pore - ask any taxi driver for Lau Pauh Sat - it's the best and so cheap!
