Unfortunately for England, no. England is a country steeped in tradition and unfortunately, change comes very slowly. People tend to follow the same sports their parents and grandparents did and aren't very open minded about new sports or different ones. Although there are some that follow the game, compete at it or watch it occasionally, very few take an active interest in it simply because its not a traditional sport or its not popular in their country.

England does have a "ice hockey" league.

If you meant, "will the NHL every be in England" then of course not. People complain today about the amount of traveling the West has to do, can you imagine crossing the Atlantic for a road game? Besides, it's not economically viable

I doubt it. It is barely getting off the ground in the United States, and we have NHL teams and world-class competitors in our league. Like in the U.S., hockey has stiff competition in Britain. Soccer is king in England. Rugby and cricket and tennis are up there. There is basically too much for people to do in England to bother going to hockey games for anything more than a novelty. So I doubt it... but I'd like it if it did!

no...

because no one cares about hockey there aside from a handful of people.. not enough people play it, or grow up with it to get attatched to the sport...

...its like asking, will US ever start getting into cricket.. probably not.. there are fans and small regional leagues... but not enough for it to get nationally big..

England does have a major hockey league, the bmibaby Elite League.. size is comparable to the ECHL (East Coast Hockey League)...

also there are the English Premier Ice Hockey League and the English National Hockey League.

England has allot of history and likes to hold on to it and Football (soccer) will always be #1 then you have your Rugby also but hockey has been doing very well in England and has been getting bigger every year.
