You can, but they may not be able to do your pap smear if there is too much blood near your cervix. Call the reception desk and they can tell you if your doctor would prefer you reschedule the appointment, they deal with this situation often. Different doctors handle this in different ways, some may want you to come in anyway while others prefer you reschedule.

I am a doctor!!! Go anyway, We really don't mind, but we do mind appointments that are missed as we might not be able to fill them on short notice! btw, the blood on the pap smear answer is BS. you can use a sponge stick or equivalent to clear the blood before you take the PAP sample and if the lab is competent at all, you can look at the cells and see which ones are blood cells and which are cervical squamous epithelial cells!

Well usually the appt is made so that you don't have your period during an exam.( so they can see your uterus clearly) If I were you I would call your docs office to make sure they will still do the exam. Seems to me light spotting shouldn't be a problem...but ask your doc before going.

You propably could, but if it was me i would reschedule and wait till the spotting stopped. But if it takes forever to get an appointment and you dont know when you will be able to go, Ring and explain what is happening and see what they recommend as they would i think deal with this alot. Good luck

Yes, Miss Annie is right. If you have light spotting, re-schedule your appointment. If the doctor tells you it's ok to go on a scheduled, that the time you can proceed.
Hope nothing is wrong with you. Have a nice day!

if the light spotting is not due to your period then i would most definitely go to your appt. the dr will need to investigate why the bleeding is occuring.

otherwise, it depends on the dr, but most don't mind-a little blood is sometimes normal during a pelvic/pap examine so the spotting shouldn't interfere

No!!!! i grew to become into 22 before i had my first pap smear, yet grew to become into so happy i had it. I had pre-cancerous cells on my cervix and had to have them bumped off... I shudder on the belief-approximately what it would desire to have grew to become into if i could permit it flow. i've got come to the realisation that they are actually not there to perve. They do lots of them daily, and at the same time because it is uncomfortable, they're experts, and it is a few thing you will possibly desire to have carried out to your solid wellness

Yes you can, just advise your doctor that you have some light spotting if you feel uncomfortable about it. Believe me that is the least of your problem. Or re-schedule until the spotting is over, if that is not a problem. Good luck

No they probably won't do it. But then every doctor is different. But I personally have never had a gynie who would do it. Becasue they can't see what they want when you are still menstruating.
