Most fry are either plain or dark in colour then change to an adult colour as they mature. Goldfish are very dark green or brown when they hatch and change at about six months to the bright orange that we all know.

Without a picture it may be difficult to tell. Since Koi usually do not live in ponds in Canada there are a few fish when small are brown then change color to a gold.

Small pumpkinseed bluegill as they get bigger will begin to turn an orange or copper color around the "breast" area, hence the name pumpkinseed. The color will not appear to change until the fish reaches around 2".

Brown trout are another fish which under the right conditions will begin to change to a golden or golden brown color. Remember trout have very fine scales so you will not be able to see scales on this fish.

It is very possiable thiscould be a carp. Carp naturally have a golden or lighter under body. Carp, depending on the water conditions and light will change to a golden or patchy golden color. Carp have larger scales very prominent. Since small carp can resemble small bass, I am guessing this may be what it is. Does it have whiskers?

It is possiable someone tossed goldfish no longer wanted into the pond like the more elongated comets. Gold fish usually do not retain their gold color in a muddy pond since light and diet are the key factors in their color change.

Then again, my daughter years ago accidently caught 3 albino baby catfish. They were already light then turned pure white as they grew in our tanks and ponds.

A picture would be great!

Golldfish initiate off as a grey/ brown sort of colour till they mature and then they exchange into their golden or white colorations. the colour while they re youthful facilitates them disguise interior the murky water that goldfish love lots. you will possibly desire to are starting to be immature goldfish and now they're maturing. The white ones stay white yet specifically circumstances the gold ones slowly exchange white.

Sounds like a carp to me. Carp have barbels around their mouths. Does this fish have these?
