Yes, I think that happens a lot. Not 100% of the time, and manipulative children can also develop anywhere.

Guilt often is associated with parents who "buy" their children's love with toys gifts/ to help appease their guilt.

parents who reinforce children's manipulative behavior by rewarding them incorrectly do. maybe they give in out of guilt, sure. or maybe they don't really know how to parent, or don't have the energy and resources.
