You can check it through your site stats. Like AWStats or statcounter.

Your log file is your web stats. Contact your hosting company to ask them how to view these.
You will see the term googlebot.
Also to check as to whether you are in google put your domain name in the search box - your site should show up!

Yes - you can find "googlebot" entries in the User-Agent field of nearly all log file types. They will all say Googlebot. Most may look like this:
Googlebot/2.1 (+http://www.googlebot.com/bot.htm
