No longer can the old people pay for thier television licence at the Post Office. Is this the way of getting rid of village Post Offices by takeing away the core business

Yes. It was been going on for many years. Lose the Post Office and Britain will retreat to beyond the Age of Enlightenment. It is maybe too late to reverse the slide but Britons should stand up for their post offices and demand the services they should be there to provide.

No. The Royal Mail makes such decisions. The reason village Post Offices are closing is because they depend on income from sources other than the royal Mail, for example, by running a grocery store. Problem is that the people who live in the villages prefer to drive to town where they can shop at Tesco for much less.

The way many village Post Offices are managed, they do not deserve to be in business.
Limited and unreliable opening hours.
Time wasted by staff chatting to customers while other people wait.
I think many village Post Office users would really prefer tea rooms.

For those who do not use Internet banking, most transactions can be completed with a cheque and a stamp and there are few people who do not have a mobile relative who is able to cash a cheque when required.
