I think a close friend is someone you can share intimate, deep conversations with - a good friend is someone you like to be around, you talk....but not too deep about any subject.

you will find out
i was always told you will find out who your true freinds are when something bad happens and you are in dire need
it is very true "we" thought we had lots and lots of friends always had a house full racing parites super bowl parties xmas new yrs
we always went out to ppls houses we "thought " we had tons of friends then when my hubby at the time got into a huge accident and i had a 3 month old to take care of too while going to the hospitol every day we were not friend matierial anymore
out of all the friends we thought we had
about a handful would call me ask if i needed a break asked to take the baby for a few hrs asked if i needed anything at the store
you will never know until you are in dire need who your REAL FRIENDS ARE

A close friend is one with whom you might share personal secrets. A good friend you might not share these secrets but you would get on well with them for outings, holidays and parties etc.

A close friend is someone you ring up when you need to - ie 3am in the morning if your bf/gf has just walked out and they come round to comfort you (or get you pissed depending on the time of day...)
A good friend is someone you ring up to arrange to meet in the pub at a socially acceptable time to tell them about the walking out at 3am...
