Keep refrigerated and tightly caped. Oxygen will degrade any fragrances that is organically based. Methanol will prevent bacteria contamination.

It depends on what the perfume's notes are and whether its fragrance is natural or chemical. Most perfumes are a blend of natural and chemical essences, and will last anywhere from 3 to 5 years. Usually, they will fade with time; a new fragrance will last longer on the skin than one you've had for a few years. Also, as the fragrance ages, the top notes may fade away completely, leaving only the heavier base notes and middle (or heart) notes.

A light, fruity fragrance will usually only last 1-2 years. After that, they tend to smell a bit like turpentine, especially if they are citrus-based. Floral fragrances and woodsy/spicy fragrances will last anywhere from 2 to 4 years before their fragrance profiles begin to fully decay. A watery fragrance (like Cool Water Woman) is entirely chemical based and will last the longest.

It's also important to note that fragrances decay differently depending on the medium; a body lotion might actually smell stronger 3 years after you've bought it then at the time of purchase, depending on the fragrance.

No they don't go bad but it can lose its fragrance over time especially if you don't cap up the nozzle. I recommend you watch a new movie entitled "Perfume" cos its all about perfume and it's adapted from the book by the same title written by Patrick Suskind.

I think perfume loses it's fragrance after about a year. It actually begins to smell bad.

i guess it depends on the quality.
Although I have a cheap one that i've had since i was 14 (i'm 18 now) and it hasn't lost it's scent and hasn't gone bad, but i broke the trigger thing off it :( that was annoying.
